WEDDING TIMELINE GUIDE FOR NASHVILLE BRIDES

Bride getting ready in Nashville with her friends and mom

Planning a Nashville wedding? It’s your day and having a thoughtful, well-organized photography timeline ensures every moment shines beautifully. Here’s my signature approach for capturing your day from get-ready to send-off, designed with Music City couples in mind.

Pre-Ceremony: Calm & Connected

Getting-Ready Photos (~30–45 minutes):
I begin with the bride’s preparations; a second shooter handles groom prep. This portion takes about 30–45 minutes, focusing on details like your dress, accessories, and the final touches of hair and makeup.

First Look + Couple Portraits (Optional, ~2/3 Hours Before):
If you’d like a first look, planning it about three hours before the ceremony creates a relaxed pace—allowing for photos, flexibility for weather or timing, and a beautiful solo moment with your partner.

End with Relaxation (1 Hour Before Ceremony):
I typically offer you a peaceful buffer before things begin. Use this time to soak in the moment, sip a beverage, or get final details adjusted, while I capture candid shots of your venue, décor, and guests arriving.

Portraits & Party Shots Before the Ceremony

Once the first look is done, we move into formal portraits—starting with:

  • Bride + Bridesmaids (~20 minutes)

  • Groom + Groomsmen (~20 minutes)

  • Full Bridal Party (~20 minutes)

This sequence keeps the flow efficient and frees everyone to enjoy the rest of the day.

If you’re skipping the first look, we delay full party portraits until after the ceremony to keep the timeline comfortable and focused, but we still suggest doing the separate groups beforehand.

Ceremony, Family, & Couple Portraits

Family Photos (~20–30 minutes):
Immediately post-ceremony, we move to family and group portraits using a pre-made shot list. This helps us breeze through the session while still capturing meaningful moments.

Sunset Portraits (~20 minutes):
Timing is everything, especially in Nashville’s beautiful light. We’ll seize golden-hour moments with romantic couple portraits, planning for travel time if needed to reach a scenic spot.

Reception & Beyond: Seamless Storytelling

Cocktail Hour & Candid Moments:
As the reception begins, I shift to capturing genuine, organic moments from mingling guests to décor details and excited first dances. Whether you’ve arranged a structured reception with toasts and dances or a spontaneous celebration, my focus is on preserving the energy and joy of the evening.

Why It Works for Nashville Weddings

  • Flexible & Relaxed: Nashville weddings often embrace Southern charm and time-honored traditions—this timeline adapts well to varying styles and venues.

  • Efficient & Enjoyable: You’ll avoid the “photo frenzy” and instead have meaningful captured moments without feeling rushed.

  • Local Glow: From the soft downtown light to romantic barn backdrops, Nashville offers gorgeous photo opportunities and my timeline maximizes them.
